The following proposes using electronic components widely available on the market, in order to extend the production life of your system, at the same time improving the interface between your operators and the machine as well as enhancing ease of use.

SIMATIC S5 SIMATIC S7

This is the solution to update the entire system SIMATIC S5, including the operator panel (HMI) migrating to new SIMATIC S7 components, with modern and reliable management software, today "standard" in our new equipments.

The customizations of the functioning logic applied during the life of the plant are not lost but converted and implemented in the new software.

The electrical changes (and therefore lead times) are minimized because the arrangement of the cards I/O remains unchanged allowing reuse without replacing all the wiring in the system.

The typical configuration of this system usually includes:

This system architecture is particularly valuable in cases where management of the axes is in charge to a external controller, separate from the PLC, which in CT PACK machines is commonly Indramat.

In this case it is instead required to be the same PLC to directly control the axes, then we recommend the upgrade to the system as described in sections Rockwell upgrade LOGIX5000™.


SIMATIC S5 LOGIX5000™

This is the solution to update the entire system SIMATIC S5, including the operator panel (HMI) migrating to new Rockwell LOGIX5000 ™ components, with modern and reliable management software, today "standard" in our new equipments.

The customizations of the functioning logic applied during the life of the plant are not lost but converted and implemented in the new software.

The typical configuration of this system usually includes:

This system architecture is particularly valuable because the handling of the axes is integrated in the PC itself and not on a separate external axis controller. The management software of the axes is then resident in the same software project, and all the operating variables, including the positions of the axes, are directly accessible and editable from the display (HMI).

On the HMI are also available special and intuitive simple functions for the preparation of new formats which allow users to cut, paste, rename and adapt existing recipes, to new different production characteristics, without requiring specific knowledge of the PLC program. Because of this the customer becomes autonomous in the implementation of the new formats.

This is the solution to update the Indramat system following indicated, migrating to new components of the same brand, with modern and reliable management software, today "standard" in our new equipments.

  • Ethernet and Sercos integrated interfaces
  • Optional ProfiBus® card

 

The PPC operates the drives on Sercos via optical fibers and communicates with the PLC via Profibus® for the exchange of I/O and recipes data.

This system architecture is ideally suited to interact with SIMATIC S7 as this does not include the axis controller integrated on-board the PLC and therefore requires an external one.

In case it is instead required to be the same PLC to directly control the axes then we suggest the upgrade to a complete Rockwell system as described in the relevant sections.

This is the solution to update the Indramat system following indicated, migrating to new Rockwell KINETIX® series components, with modern and reliable management software, today "standard" in our new equipments.

This update does not include the axis controller which should remain a one previously installed.
Where it is intended to update the axis controller too, then this solution is not appropriate and it is suggested to refer to the proposals of upgrading to Indramat or Rockwell as described in other sections.
